from Robin Boynton:

The Andover Democratic Committee at its July meeting elected Janet Moore and Dean Barker as co-chairs and Bill Bardsley as treasurer.

The first official act of the co-chairs was to propose a Resolution thanking Bardsley for his many years of dedicated service as chairman and Art Urie for his continuing commitment to the endeavors of the committee. Good job Bill and Art!

Other business included review of correspondence from Raymond Buckley, Chairman of the New Hampshire Democratic Party. Ray’s letter addresses the many challenges facing the Party in the upcoming midterm elections and charges each local committee to set priorities and develop an action plan for meeting goals for 2010. Discussion also included reaching out to local Organizing for America’s staff/volunteers, identifying potential service projects for the upcoming year, and the feasibility of hosting a debate between candidates in late Spring/early Summer of 2010.

Co-Chair Dean Barker announced that Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, founder of Daily Kos, would be signing his new book Taking on the System: Rules for Change in a Digital Era on Monday, August 24, 2009, 7 PM at Gibson’s Bookstore, South Main Street Concord.

The Democrats’ next meeting, a reception to which local OFA staff and volunteers will be invited, will be held on August 20th at 5:00 p.m. at the Lake Farm Realty office, 164 Main Street (in front of the Andover P.O.). All registered Democrats are invited to participate.
